Annesonia's Second Birthday!

Annesonia turned 2 today!
And as you can see we all had a lot of FUN in the studio....Mom (who is a barrel racing Texan) always buys her children a horse on their 2nd birthday....and Annesonia (who has been growing up with two brothers) sure knows how to ride one! We had so much fun tickling, giggling, screaming, hugging and kissing 'good bye' that the time just flew by.
We love baby birthdays at the studio so much that we offer the 1st year birthday session for FREE! (ps don't forget the cake!)
We don't know yet who has more fun, us or the baby!

2009- New England Photographer of the Year!

Pat was awarded New England Photographer of the Year 2009!
Each professional photographer may enter up to 4 images into competition at the New England regional competition which was held in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Six judges are flown in from all over the county and the judging lasted for 2 days.
The Best Body of Work in New England is presented by Canon at the end of an awards banquet and this year Pat carried it home...
Insomnia was one of Pat's 4 entries.
Another was Caged, with model (and now Miss Vermont Teen USA) Shelby.
Congrats to my favorite photographer - Pat !!!
Signed, Chris A. Beltrami

2009 -New England's Photographer of the Year!

Chris Beltrami received a 'Court of Honor' award for 'Intermission', an image he caught at a ballet recital. In the words of several of the judges, "this photographer has achieved the level of an artist with this entry".
At New England judging ,a panel of 6 judges score images ... one at a time. The maker's name is witheld for fairness and an 80 is a great "merit" score. When a print comes up before the jurors and it doesn't score as high as some of the judges feel it should, the image may be "challenged". Each judge takes a turn to speak about the print before rejudging.
'Intermission' was a challenged image. It was exciting to hear all of the positive comments before it was rescored to a ... 95!!!
Great job Chris!

Watercolor Portrait..

During that quiet time of year, when I have the time to photograph what "I" want to, I invite into my camera room clients that will allow me to do just that. Sherry is one of those clients.
I have photographed her children over the years and I had an idea I wanted to try with a huge bouquet of lilacs. Sherry came through with a great dress for the shoot and I painted the image to give it a watercolor look.
Soooooo, if anyone out there would like to climb onto my 'play list' just give me a call and let me know who and what I can play with. :)

p.s.
At this writing my neice Tiffany called and I'll be doing a Maternity shoot in about 6 months with her! YEAH!

Family portrait in Maine

The White family 2009

Allison booked her family portrait session for the coast of Maine, where we vacation for two weeks each year with our family. While on vacation we accept 6 appointments and Allison's family was one of them.

It had been raining off and on that day, but when we were scheduled to photograph the session, the rain had stopped. It was one of those magically blessed times when you feel The Lord's hand on a situation. The rain stopped for a 1/2 hour...just long enough to capture all of the images we needed to fulfill the family's desire for the Coast of Maine portrait.
Thank you!,

A Truly Rich Man...

When this young family came into the studio for their portrait session,
we discovered that each child wanted to be photographed with dad separately because he was about to leave home for his 2nd tour in Afghanistan.
And when mom came back into the studio to finalize the portrait order
she was in uniform also.
I asked how both parents being in the military worked
and she explained that there was an agreement ...
when one parent goes off to protect our country the other stays home to be with the children.
Tears came to my eyes. So much caring, bravery and 'love of country' in one family
was amazing to experience.
We have ordered a sample portrait for the studio of this outstanding family with the inscription:
"A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms."
Thank you for all you sacrifice!

Eli is 9 months old

It doesn't seem like 3 months have gone by already but it has and Eli is 9 months old!
In planning for this session Julie said she wanted to decorate her kitchen with a portrait of Eli. Sooo we talked about his favorite veggies and her favorite dishware and when we put all the ingredients together we came up with a little chef and all his fav's! It doesn't get much cuter than this!
I'm here to report that he is very charming and loves to have kisses blown to him as well as 'the farmer in the dell' sung to him! Sweet sweet baby!

Mrs. Vermont

In 12 more days Mrs. Bisson will be flying off to Arizona to represent
Vermont in the Mrs. America Pageant!
Jen has been with us, working at the studio, all summer and we have had so much fun getting to know her and, her adorable husband, Mikey, better. They are as opposite as that can be. Mike is a builder, big and strong; Jen is very feminine, beautiful in 'pink'!
They are so perfect together!
I think our chances of bringing home the Crown is pretty high, don't you!
We'll be cheering you on!
:) :) :) :) :/)

The Baileys

Over the years we have photographed Lori's children from babies to adults.
When Lori came to me and told me she, herself, had never been in a family portrait, I felt as if I had let her down by never suggesting it! Soooo, we got together to plan clothing and posing for a portrait that would fit into their family lifestyle.
She spoke about the little smile she would see come across Kevin's face when he looked at the wall portrait of the children that was taken several years earlier and she knew he would enjoy the new update with the both of them in the portrait, especially as time goes by (as it so quickly does).
Mission accomplished!

Shelby

We love photographing Shelby!

She's always up for something different & with that beautiful face and smile we always get great shots. We love to push the envelope a little bit while photographing Seniors. This year we've been shooting in the alley, on antique trucks at the car show on the street, Goddard campus,

invited into the local art studio, on any location where the senior would like to go and now in the pool at our house....

We try to have the water nice and warm!

It was around 84 degrees the day Shelby took a dip!

Eli at 6 months

Eli
When Julie asked me to photograph Eli at 6 months we put our heads together and came up with a Cabbage Patch scene for the roly-poly one! And the rest is history!
The one thing Eli had to master before the shoot was sitting up. Julie did swear she was practicing with him every day but he hadn't quite learned the whole concept of balance. There were a couple 'close calls' during the session when Julie caught him taking a nose dive into one of the cabbages, but with mom sitting right next to him, no one was hurt.
What a cute cabbage patch kid! We especially liked the touch of a cabbage leaf on his head....we'll make sure to keep you posted on Eli's growth progress in about 3 months....see you then Eli!

The Young Evangelist

Jonathan Shuttlesworth has a heart and soul for God ... something that is rarely witnessed in a young man of 28 years old. Jonathan's story is, at the age of 10, that an angel visited him one evening and told him that he would preach the good news of Jesus' love before His return to earth. Where upon, Jonathan ran downstairs and told his mom and dad about his visitation and what he would be doing for the rest of his life.
Jonathan's high school counselor told him he was the only student he had ever met
that had never changed his mind on his future vocation from his Freshman year to his Senior.
Jonathan dedicated his life to Christ and God has honored that dedication by opening doors around the US and Canada so that he can proclaim God's love and healing to a needy generation.
A town in Hawaii was touched with miracles from one of his meetingsand and has invited him back for yearly events dedicated to the Lord. Power & Miracles continue to confirm the word being taught in Hawaii.
A man of prayer and fasting, Jonathan Shuttlesworth is dedicated
to being set apart for the glory of God.

XXV Maine Meeting 2009

XXV 2009
In 1999 Chris and I were so blessed to have been invited into the "Society of XXV", a group of 25 outstanding international photographers. We just returned from our 2009 Maine meeting, which Chris and I hosted. It was not a difficult task since Maine is one of our favorite places in the world!
For 5 days, before traveling to Maine, we were able to host XXV friends Christina & Henk Van Kooten from Holland. What a talented couple! Henk has his Fellowship in Photography from Europe and is a sought after photographer and teacher.
In Maine we stayed downtown in Portland at the Portland Harbor Hotel - where we were spoiled rotten. We took everyone on the 'Duck Tour' to give our friends the 'lay of the land' in Portland and we initiated them with their first Maine lobster bake at Fox's at Nubble Light House. We dined at Di Millo's, a floating restaurant which overlooks the Portland harbor at sunset and we all pigged out at our favorite ice cream place ... Brown's Ice Cream in York.
Finally, we made sure everyone dipped their toes into the frigid Maine coast water!
What a great time we all had!
The best part of the trip was the companionship with all of our XXV members
from all over the world.
Indra flew in from Indonesia, where he runs multiple studios.
His clients are from royalty and he blew us away ,as usual, with his imagery!
He'll be hosting next year's trip to BALI. We can't wait!
Whenever an opening comes up in XXV, members submit names of prospective photographers. We then view there images and have a group discussion. A 3/4 majority vote is necessary to bring that person into the group.
Last year we voted in a very talented and wonderful person from Australia ... Marcus Bell. If you'd like to be wowed by incredible images visit his web site!
This year we voted in another member whom we are axious to be with.
We can't wait to meet and welcome ... Parker Pfister.
This might be the longest blog I've written but I just had to give you a taste of the absolutely wonderful experience we had. We came back to Vermont overflowing with information and inspired with the blessings of friendship . We can always count on the love and caring we receive
each time we come together with our best friends.
We love you XXV!

Scored 100!

' Insomnia'
Brenda Bailey had a litter of goldens that were going to be leaving her kennel in just a day or two and when I found out about it I invited them into the studio along with Max, her grandson.
What happened next was magic!
All of the puppies went to sleep along with Max, wearing the hat that grammy had knit him the day before (what can't that woman do!)
At the Vermont judging in April one of my friends came running out of the judging room as I walked into the convention and seeing me she gushed her congratulations to me for the 100 score on my print in the show! Any score of 80 or better is a blue ribbon image but prints scoring 100 are very far and few between.
At the awards banquet later that weekend 'Insomnia' received 'The Best of Show' Award along with the American Society of Photography Award for
'Highest Scoring Image' in the show, and a Kodak Gallery Award for Photographic Excellence 2009.
Thank you to Brenda and Kelsey for all their effort, the puppies for their irresistible cuteness and Max for being just an angel during the whole shoot!

Pat's Vermont 2009 Awards!

'Caged'
Shelby is one of my favorite models! She's always up for assisting me to create something unique, like this image for competition & an update for my portfolio.
This young woman has a lot of self-esteem & confidence! You don't have to look far to see where she gets it...Her mom is her biggest fan (along with dad,I'm sure)!
Thank you Shelby and family for helping me win the
Master's Court of Honor 2009!

Chris Beltrami is' Photographer of the Year 2009'!

' Intermission'

Congratulations to Chris Beltrami, who is 'Vermont Photographer of the Year 2009'! He received this award last weekend at the Vermont Professional Photographers Convention in Manchester, Vermont. Chris was the only photographer in the state to receive blue ribbons on all of his 6 entries. This is the 16th time Chris has been awarded this honor! I am so proud of him! And he's pretty cute too!

Babies having babies

Chris and I had so much fun capturing these moments of little Gabe Henry ... and his parents. Think about it - Gabe can be carried around, hugged, kissed, oggled and pampered. What more could anyone want?

All too soon baby turns into boy and one day mom and dad will carry him for the last time on their hip.

Boy turns to teen and one day he'll want to spend more of his time with his buddies.

Teen turns to young man and falls in love and it begins all over again.

Quickly, in the blink of an eye life happens.

I believe that we should carry the babies as long as we can, make them our best friends and love who they love as deeply as they do.

After all that's what life is all about...

When Hallee's mom said she loved the camera, she wasn't kidding! It's such a joy to capture great expressions from a child who is this comfortable in the lime-light....I've made a banner up for the outside of the studio and I couldn't help but use most of these images. As one of our children's portrait contest entries, it is too bad we have to enter only one....but good luck to Hallee, she gave it all she had!

Eli update!

Here is one of my favorite images from Eli's first portrait session. They were taken February 26, when he was 3 months old. This was one of those times where you would want to be a fly on the wall! This massive, entire studio project where Chris was shooting, Pat was holding Eli in the air, and Mama was getting his attention was all so exciting. We even had to call in
re-enforcements... my talented sister pitched in all the way from Wisconsin to draw the beautiful stork for us!
This portrait and the effort that went into creating it will always mean so much to me! It will represent this magical time in Eli's life when he is growing so quickly and experiencing all of his first milestones!

xoxo
Julie

The Kurrle Faimily

We decide to update our family portrait since the last one was done when our youngest child was an infant. We worried that our young children might not cooperate for the sitting and our efforts to get a good family photo would be for nothing. Julie to the rescue- we had a wonderful experience! I remember thinking that if the portrait came out even half as good as the photo-shoot went, everything would be great. Sure enough, we have a beautiful image that captures each of our personalities. The wall portrait is very special to us and it has brought such warmth to our family room.

The Trombley Family

Baby Cutler came into the studio at Christmas time to visit Santa and decided he wasn't much of a fan...so I invited the family back 2 months later for a complimentary family portrait session.....I must admit that I had found out that his Dad was a body builder and had only 5% body fat! Everyone was thrilled with the end result- a 40" wrap canvas of multiple images. I have to admit that this portrait is one of my favorite creations because it's everything Mom and Dad and myself wanted to capture and now they'll always have memories of Cutler as a baby! I love what I do!!

Enjoy,

2008 Awards are In!

Chris and I have entered four prints each into the Professional Photographers of America's International Print Competition since 1984. Yikes that's a long time!
Every year a Loan Collection book is published with the' best of the best' images judged from across the world. Usually the top 5% of the images 'that stand above the rest' make it into this elite publication.
This year Chris and I both have two images each and we feel very honored and blessed to be named among this talented group of professionals.
We have posted the four winning images with a little 'ditty' about each one below...enjoy
pat

Sisters

Shannon was getting ready to leave for college so I asked her if I could photograph her with her little sister. I'm happy that the pose tells the story of how much her sister will miss her. In the years to come, this shot will always carry both of them back to that time.

Sophia at Eleven

I'm Soooo glad I was able to capture Sophia at eleven in this portrait. Soon after this shot she lost interest in the American girl dolls. Time slips by quickly and if I had known this would have been one of the last times watching her enjoying this doll and book I would have lingered longer to savor the moment.

Snowstorm

Chris took this shot on one of our four wheel drive outings during a Noreaster. It's one of our favorite things to do. Cruise around while most sane people are tucked away safe and sound in their homes. Appropriately titled "The Snowstorm", it's a slice of real Vermont and one of the images for sale as home or office decor.

Secrets of the Casbah

While in Morrocco in the Casbah, Chris captured this image shooting from the hip.
He titled it "Secrets of the Casbah". His talent for taking shots at the decisive moment continues to impress me besides making me jealous!

Bye Shannon! :(

Shannon has gone back to college, WAW! She is so much fun and a lot of help when she works at the studio while home on break. Whenever she leaves for school I photograph her as a 'kind-of-study' in the way she's changing, blossoming and maturing into womanhood. Intuitive, creative, tender, adventurous, confident and, on top of everything else, pretty smart....:), she will one day be a 'Divine Designer',:), sought after by all those clients with great taste wanting the 'Best' of the best!
Shannon, have fun and remember to always 'paint the town' pink!

Past Client, 'by invitation only'!

Karen is one of my 'timeless beauty' clients!

At the beginning of each new year, when things slow down after the Holiday rush, I run a Valentine Special. This year I decided to make it a little bit more special by sending out invitations to only my past clients. The atmosphere should be festive with 'chilled bubbly' to sip, chocolate covered strawberries to nibble on, a talented make-up artist (on the 'all woman' staff) to pamper you like a movie star and a beautiful set design for an elegant portrait session.

For V-day a couple years ago Chris requested a portrait of myself. After presenting him with the portrait I thought to myself "Why didn't I do that 15 years ago when I had some va-va-voom still happening?". So, because of that experience, I cheer on women everywhere to have a beautiful image taken of themselves at least once in their life time, especially when they're still

va-va-voomimg!

Joey :D

Here we are, January first, 2009 and we find ourselves down in the studio working on juicy projects for this new year. We just can't help ourselves because we love what we do and besides, Shannon needs money for college. When she goes back to Cornell we're gonna miss her soooooooooo much because of the creative things she does around here (see Joey's wrapped canvas above). But how could she resist working on this project with such a cute boy...
